Writing Goals
I was always taught that there is always something new to learn and you can never know everything. This applies to all aspects of life including writing! We can always get better and faster and improve on things that we might not even realize we need improvement on. For this semester there are a couple of things that I, as a writer, would like to improve upon. First, one of my major goals is to expand my variety. I have always been a good writer when it came to silly poems or short stories and I really enjoy doing them both however I would like to expand my horizon. I like the take tens that we do in class because they make me think a lot and take risks in fields that i may have never tired before. I would like to expand my vocabulary as well because my vocabulary is not very advanced and sometimes I get stuck because I cannot find the right words to explain what I am thinking in my head. Another goal that I have for myself that some what goes along with the first goal is increasing my volume. Like i said before, I am good and enjoy writing short pieces like short stories or poems but i have more trouble as the pieces get longer and longer. I would like to maybe be able to write even 25 pages of one story! When i read books I always think about how the writer keeps going and going for hundreds of pages but it never gets old and I would like to maybe be able to do that one day. These goals are not my only goals but are definitely a main focus of mine over the next semester in Creative Writing class.
